Why Malaysia is the Best Place for A Summer Break

Here at Banana Tree, we’re always trying to do our bit to spread the rich culture of Indochina throughout the UK, and we love it when Brits head off to see Indochina for themselves! Malaysia’s tropical weather, beautiful beaches, and friendly local atmosphere make it the perfect destination if you’re planning a summer getaway. Our newest and most exciting competition yet is offering you a chance to win an all-expenses paid trip deep into the heart of exotic Borneo. Below are some of the incredible experiences Malaysia has to offer – which make it so uniquely worth a visit. Read on!

It’s Got Some of the Best Shopping in Asia

One of the most popular places to be in Kuala Lumpur, for tourists and locals alike, is the BBKLCC shopping district – stretching from the Bukit Bintang area right into the City Centre, it’s one of the biggest and most bustling areas to visit for shopping. In fact, three of the shopping malls in the district are among the ten biggest in the world, housing world-famous brands like Armani, Prada and Balenciaga.

BBKLCC is considered an icon across Asia, and it’s great for picking up something special for friends and family back home. Check out the food and fashion with a luxurious shopping trip through Malaysia’s best shopping district!

Malaysia is Simply Beautiful!

We might be a little biased, but at Banana Tree we think Malaysia is one of the prettiest places we know. The tropical setting, the ancient rainforests, the picturesque islands – it all adds up to a great place to start your Indochinese adventure.

We recommend Borneo for experiencing Malaysia’s fantastic natural landscape – with its dense natural rainforests and golden beaches, it’s the perfect place to get away from it all and relax. Stick to the beach and chill out on the golden sands, or if you’re feeling adventurous, take a trek into the rainforest. Climb Mount Kinabulu, Malaysia’s tallest peak, go diving in the brilliant blue waters off Sipadan Island or just relax in the mineral rich hot springs of Poring – whatever you choose, it’s sure to be a memorable trip.

Borneo’s also noted for its distinctive wildlife, home to Sumatran rhinos, pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, and of course the organutan. One of only two places on the planet where orangutans still live in their native environment, it’s important to take advantage of the opportunity and see Borneo. Our competition gives you the chance to pay a visit to the Orangutan Retreat – here at Banana Tree we’re very concerned about the fate of our orangutan cousins, and you may even be inspired to join in conservation efforts yourself.

The Fabulous Food of Malaysia

It should come as no surprise that here at Banana Tree we’re pretty fond of Malaysian cuisine. And if you’ve already fallen in love with our great Malaysian restaurant in Angel, now might be the time to enjoy the cuisine in its home country.

Jalan Alor is the place to go for street food in Kuala Lumpur – at night the street becomes an enormous food court, with chefs competing to make you some delicious Malaysian dishes. You’ll find old favourites you’ll be familiar with from us here at Banana Tree, like kajang satay sticks, kari sentan melayu, or chicken laksa soup, so it’s a great place to go to get stuck into some great Malaysian cuisine.

If you’re looking for something a bit fancier, though, the Petronas Twin Towers – set in the middle of a forest reserve in Kuala Lumpur – offer a high-class experience, complete with a revolving restaurant that will let you see the whole of Kuala Lumpur while you enjoy your meal.

At Banana Tree we’d love it if everyone could experience Malaysia – and we’re excited to say that we’re doing our bit with our latest competition, giving you the chance to visit Malaysia and see just why we think it’s such a unique and fascinating place!
